The differences between my art and photography are night and day, like my varied interests. I’m constantly amazed by the serene beauty and magical happenings that happen in Nature. Architecture has always been an interest of mine as well. The juxtaposition of the organic with man-made is most interesting. My drawings and paintings often convey a sensual feel. I depict the beautiful nude female with a simplification of form.

My artwork is in private and corporate collections world-wide. I am an award-winning artist, past gallery-owner, and my art has been in many exhibitions. Stephen Edwards spent over 30 years behind a black and white viewfinder in his career as a corporate and broadcast news cameraman and as owner of Pro Video Productions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Making the transition to still black and white film photography was a natural progression. “I’ve seen the world in black and white my whole life. I feel most expressive, creative, and comfortable in the black and white format because I like the abstract nature it conjures up.”

My art is guided by my instincts, my curious nature & sense of discovery, and great music rocking on my stereo.  My goal is not perfection but rather to honestly represent my efforts & the outcome each new creation presents, whether it's capturing the alluring beauty of a woman or the juxtaposition of various metals & found objects together to create a unique piece of art.  I currently work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, metal (copper's a favorite) and photography.

I love the fine art side of Photography, using my camera as a painter does a brush, and my photographs reflect the interpretation I chose for that scene at that moment. My education includes three years of college training in Fine Art Photography and over 25 years of experience. My art has been published in a book for fishermen titled "Native Trout of North America."

Landscapes and nature are what I began with, and truly love. The beauty of Southern Oregon combined with my love to travel provides never ending photo opportunities. The creative side of photography has moved me into many new directions. Working artistically with an image can transform a photo into an amazing work of art. My goal in creating images is to cause one to pause for a moment, look and ponder. Each photo reflects my belief that we are challenged by uncertainty and blessed with mystery. Rio Querencia, River of Serenity, is both a state of mind and my home on the Applegate River in Southern Oregon.

Ron specializes in black & white imagery using traditional techniques; Dee, an artist, works in color and loves using her computer to work with the images she's taken. Together they travel the Western states capturing new images and creating fine photography, both independently and as a team whose collaborations artfully blend their combined talents.

My work is mainly landscapes, seascapes & nature photographs taken in S. Oregon and along the Oregon Coast, joined by travel, architectural, floral and abstract photos. During 30 years as a Cardio-thoracic Surgical Physician Asst. I've helped patients and family through some of the most stressful days of their lives. This makes creating images with a sense of beauty and peace which can relieve the stresses of life one of my greatest joys.

The Photographer's Gallery at The Ashland Art Center is the only one of its kind between Portland and San Francisco. Centrally located in the heart of Ashland, the Gallery features a diverse range of photographic subjects and styles including landscape, travel, local. nature, macro, abstract, offbeat and black and white. Both framed and unframed prints in a wide variety of sizes as well as canvas images are available.

I’m inspired by Zen aesthetic principles of simplicity, understatement, asymmetry, and tranquility.  Also by Vermeer and Edward Hopper.
